The 800 Series Album size is named after the largest size print that will fit into the mat.

The outside album dimension is square, and measures approximately 2 inches larger than the actual size of the album.

There are two software programs available to order your 800 Matted album that we recommend.

                                         Print2Bind  –  LabPrints Digital Studio v5

1- Print2Bind is the easiest way to order an 8500 Matted Album. It is our dedicated software, and it is FREE.
2- LabPrints Digital Studio v5

Order any size 800 Matted Album and upload your files through the actual software ordering portal.
Fill out an 800 Print/Bind PDF order form and email it to ftp@leathercraftsmen.com after you upload.

FREE SUPPORT: Email us at info@leathercraftsmen.com for free one on one support with any matted album ordering portal or software you choose. Please give us 24-48 hours to get in touch with you, and be sure to leave your phone number and a good time for us to call.
Ordering an 800 Matted Album When Not Using Our Recommended Software
(Note: This is not easy and will take you some time to prepare your files)

File Preparation

Since these are matted albums, the process is different than that of the flush mounted albums.

Your single image files need to be cropped to the exact standard print size.

Examples:

– A 4×6 jpg needs to be exactly 4×6

– A 5×7 jpg needs to be exactly 5×7

– A 10×10 jpg needs to be exactly 10×10

Please save your files in sRGB color space in 8-bit color, not 16-bit, to achieve the best print results.

800 Matted Album Print Trim

After we print your individual jpgs, we then trim the prints in preparation to be coated and then mounted into the matted pages.

The amount we trim off depends on the size of the print.

– On all single prints, sized 4×5 to 10 x 10, we will trim close to 1/4″ off each side (see chart below).

– On prints smaller than 4 x5 we take closer to 1/8″ off each side (see chart below).

– 3 x 3 and 3 x 4 1/2 prints are the only size prints that we do not trim at all (see chart below).

                                                  PRINT SIZE TRIM CHART

How To Be Mindful Of The Trim (and what image area you will lose)

Visually be sure to leave enough space around all four sides of each jpg image knowing that you will lose close to a
1/4 inch off each side of the image once we print and then trim it. This applies to all prints sized 4×5 and larger.

Please Note: On prints sized smaller than 4×5, we either trim less or don’t trim at all (see chart above).

We highly recommend that you play the Leather Craftsmen Trim Guide Photoshop Action on each jpg.

These guides will show you exactly what you are losing. Download the Photoshop Action Here

800 Matted Album Layout

When laying out any Leather Craftsmen album, odd page numbers are ALWAYS on the right and even page numbers are ALWAYS on the left.
An 800 album can start on page 01 or on page 02 when ordered with a “First Page Option” of “Side #1 Blank”.

File Naming

Your file naming is critical. The way your files are named and the folders they are in will identify their size and placement.

The name you assign the album print jpg identifies which page it’s on and where on the page it belongs. Think of it as the sequence name.

Sequence names will be structured in one of three ways:

(1) a number all by itself
(2) a number plus one letter
(3) a number plus two letters

The number tells us which page the image belongs on.
The letter or combination of letters tells us where on the page the image goes.

Page Quadrants

Each page in a matted album is viewed as a “Quadrant” to our production team.
One single letter represents the quadrant location. Two letters represents image centered between the two quadrants.
Quadrants letters are always the same. Only the page numbers change:

Upper Left Quadrant     A

Upper Right Quadrant   B

Lower Left Quadrant     C

Lower Right Quadrant   D

See examples below of four different possible page layouts and how your files would be named under each circumstance:
(Notice that even numbered pages are on the left side and odd numbered pages are on the right side)

Example 1 – Is a print centered on a page by itself. It is page 10 (left side page) so it is just named 10.jpg

Example 2 –  Are two prints on page 11 (right side page). One print is positioned upper left quadrant. It is page 11 in position A so it is called 11A.jpg.
The other print is positioned in the lower right quadrant. It is page 11 in position D so it is called 11D.jpg.

Example 3 –  Are three prints on page 34 (left side page). One print is centered on the left side taking the A and C quadrant, thus called 34AC.jpg.
The other two prints take the upper right B and lower right quadrant D, thus called 34B.jpg and 34D.jpg.

Example 4 – Are four prints on page 35 (right side page). Upper Left 35A.jpg; Upper Right 35B.jpg; Lower Left 35C.jpg; Lower Right 35D.jpg

4 Steps On How To Place Your Order

1 – Create a master job folder. Name your specific job (ex: Smith_Wedding) as shown below:

2 – Place your 800 Print Bind Interactive PDF Order Form and *Story Board Document (Album_Layout_Diagram)* inside your Master Job Folder, then create folders for each print size.  The inside of your master job folder should resemble something like this example below.

*The Story Board Document is helpful for us to check your layout, but if you are unable to create one then we will create your album layout by the way you named your files.

Your album print jpgs will live inside your print size folders. It should resemble something like the example below:

4 – Upload your job using this hightail link.

Please Note: Within 24- 48 hours, you’ll get an email confirmation back with an ACK #. Save that email with the job.
