Founded in 1942 by Morris Schneider, Leather Craftsmen began making it’s time honored library bound 300 style flush mount series in 1945. A few years later, he added the very popular custom library bound 800 style matted album that was the standard bearer of all wedding albums through the early 2000’s.
Morris, born on September 14, 1914 remained our active CEO until he passed away at the age of 92 on November 17, 2006.
Morris’ nephew, Morty Schneider, began working at Leather Craftsmen after being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1945. Morty became President of the company in 1973 and is responsible for creating the foundation of our customer service philosophy. Morty remained President until his untimely passing in 1990.
Morty’s son, Howard Shhneider, took over in 1990. In 2000 he introduced the 3500 Album Series which is still the most popular album for today’s digitally crafted photographers.
